How to Create a Homemade Wooden JigSaw Puzzle
Below are the steps that have found to be the simplest and quickest approach to creating a homemade wooden jigsaw puzzle.
Step 1. Glue a puzzle pattern or template to a piece of wood using a spray adhesive. Personally, I am using a 3/4″ (2cm) piece of cedar. Other soft woods like pine would also work great.
Step 2. Cut out the puzzle pieces using a scroll saw. Try to create smooth, round curves without starting and stopping.
Step 3. Remove the puzzle pattern (paper template) by sanding. A palm sander will quickly remove the thin layer of paper.
Step 4. Your jigsaw puzzle is ready!
Step 5. Optionally paint or color your puzzle pieces. In my case, I applied a linseed-oil to help accentuate the grain.
Pin for later.
