About us at SunCatcherStudio - Jodie, Amy, and Bill Rosener

Hi! We are Jodie and Bill Rosener. We live on a small farm in Oklahoma with our daughter Amy. Together, we love teaching others about the rewarding experiences of creating things yourself with wood and clay.

Below is video showing Bill turning a “small” bowl!

If you are into woodworking, woodturning, or pottery, hopefully this website will help inspire and motivate you.  Other people may benefit from the essential tips and techniques covered in these pages.  You should also find numerous safety guidelines to help ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Bill is a professor at Northeastern State University during the day.  There he teaches courses in computer programming, computer graphics (including 3D), and website design. He has written numerous articles for “More WoodTurning Magazine”, “American Woodturner” and has given presentations as the Northeastern Oklahoma Wood Turners Association and the SouthWest Association of Turners. See his portfolio and demonstrations, publications, and awards and for a partial listing of his work and contributions.

I saw you uses the HP as unit of power. Only the US and Myamar uses this unit. In the rest of the world the unit of power. As your information will be read in the rest of the world it would be fine when you add the unit Watt fo the the HP. Watt is unit within the ISO which stands for International Standardisation Organisation.

      Levien,

Thank you for letting me know. I have updated the page on “Band saws” to include both horsepower and watts. I will try to update the rest of the pages in the next few days. Thanks again, Bill

As a retired math teacher (6-12) my mind started shooting off ideas for projects and different ideas to engage kids. I never believed in worksheets to occupy kids time but paper that engaged kids. I was known for giving kids blank paper and getting a worksheet back from my kids worked out with answers too! Unlike some of my collegeaus who might hand out a worksheet and pick up a blank worksheet.

Pam, thanks for the comments. Below are some of my favorite “teacher” quotes.
“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.” (Mustafa Kemal Atatürk)
“Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” (Anonymous)
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” (William Butler Yeats)
